Storage Inc – Puzzle & Trivia – 400 points – Download

Storage Inc is a forklift truck driving puzzle game. The aim of the game is to move increasing numbers of crates to their right locations at the right time. To do this you will need to plan ahead and organise well.

The game is presented from a top-down 3D view with the models and environments looking great, especially considering the game is only around 8MB.

In each level you are put in a different shaped warehouse with varying numbers of inwards and outwards bound cargo areas. There are a number of crates scattered around the warehouse with numbers on them which dictate how many delivery periods need to elapse until you can deliver that crate. The delivery periods each last around a minute and are represented by a blue bar in the top left corner. If a crate needs to be delivered in that delivery period it will display a letter dictating which cargo area it needs to be put in. Matters are complicated futher by incoming cargo. These must be removed from their spawning area before more cargo arrives at that point.

The main focus of the game is to manage your time effectively between the outward and inward bound cargo as well as organising all the stored cargo so you are better prepared for future rounds. You have 3 lives and lose one if you fail to deliver a crate during it’s delivery period or there is something on one of the incoming cargo areas when more cargo arrives. There are 100 levels and each are both fun and challenging and if you want even more there are multiple difficulty levels.

The controls would be something that a game like this can easily get wrong. Luckily the controls are pretty much perfect and achieve the right balance between being fun and accesible as well as feeling like a forklift truck. The left analogue stick controls forward and backwards whilst the right analogue stick controls left and right. The A button or the triggers are used to activate the lift.

At any time up to three of your friends can also join the game and help you sort the cargo. The game has a dynamically adjusting difficulty level depending on how many players there are.

Overall Storage Inc is a fun and unique puzzle game. It;s extremely polished has a tremendous amount of content and also provides a challenge. The addition of local co-op play is a great feature and the core mechanics are solid and enjoyable. This is definately one to check out and even though it’s 400 points, there is enough content to justify the purchase.

Zombies 2.0 – 240 points – Shooter – Download
Nice top down shooter that sees you defend you base from a variety of different enemies. It has decent presentation and an in-depth upgrade system.

 

 

Dodge These Balls – 80 points – Platformer – Download

Extremely simple but surprisingly fun. It plays like the pacifism mode from Geometry Wars 2. You control one ball and must avoid rapidly increasing numbers of other balls.

 

Penguin Slip-Slide Lite – 80 points – Puzzle & Trivia – Download

I didn’t play the original version but this seems like a nice small puzzle game that can be enjoyed by younger gamers.

 

Pastels Square – 400 points – Puzzle & Trivia – Download

An interesting take on the brick-dropping game that sees you make squares of the same color. Lacks polish and is overpriced.

 

Bed Time Nursery Rhymes- 80 points – Family – Download

Collection of narrated nursery rhymes. Shouldn’t parents be reading their kids these themselves?

 

Shellblast HD – 400 points – Puzzle & Trivia – Download

An interesting take on a Minesweeper-like game. Fantastic presentation and some interesting puzzles.

 

Puzzle? – 80 points – Puzzle & Trivia – Download

Collection of word puzzles. The games could be appealing but the presentation is awful.

 

デッドラGO! – 400 points – Strategy & Simulation – Download

Japanese tower defence game. Seems to have a lot of depth and is really polished. It’s a shame that you’ll struggle to play it without knowing Japanese.

 

Nasty – 400 points – Action & Adventure – Download

Nice retro platformer. Challenging and it reminds me of some classic older platformers. The graphics are nice too.

 

Streets of Fury – 240 points – Fighting – Download

Streets of Rage-like game that uses real people for the characters. Innovative and entertaining so well worth a look.

 

Octagon – 240 points – Shooter – Download

Fun shooter where the four face buttons on your controller each fire different colored bullets. Enemies can only be damaged by bullets of the same color. Great presentation.

 

LOLCats – 80 points – Other – Download

Pictures of cats with irritating internet memes.

As a Shenmue fan I loved this. It’s a forklift truck puzzle game that makes you manage a warehouse with your truck and move cargo. Great presentation and a lot of fun.
