Trial Impressions – 30 July 2009

By Sam, July 30, 2009 8:20 am

A new feature of IndieGameBlog.net is every day I will download, play and write comments on all the Xbox LIVE Indie Game trials released. I’ll only write a couple of sentences about each (more detailed impressions will be saved for reviews) but hopefully it should give you enough info to decide whether to dowload the trial.

Note: These impressions are based off 8 minutes of gameplay and are not an accurate assessment of the full product.

hornHorn Swaggle Islands – 400 points – Stategy and Simulation – Download

Pretty nice tower defence game with a great pirate theme. 400 points could be a bit steep though.

dateWho Did I Date Last Night? – 80 Points – Action & Adventure – Download

Guess Who? like game with pictures of attractive women. The novelty wears off after a couple of minutes.

Bland 2D shooter. The shooting lacks feedback and the sound effects are poor. The art is quite good though.

More tommorrow.

I’m really enjoying Horm Swaggle Islands. There are a lot of levels and each one takes quite a while to play. Plus there is a lot of replay value with the higher difficulty.

I’m waiting to hear back about possibly reviewing the full game. I liked what I played in the trial though I’m not sure yet if the full game justifies the full 400 points.
